Humanitarian Parole for Sudan

African Communities Together is calling on President Biden to create a humanitarian parole program for Sudan, similar to what was created for Ukraine. It has been almost two years since the war in Sudan broke out and over half the population, 25 million people, need urgent humanitarian assistance.

What is Humanitarian Parole?

Humanitarian parole is a tool that allows the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to permit an individual or a certain group of people to legally enter the U.S. for urgent humanitarian reasons. The Biden administration has recently used its authority to create humanitarian parole programs for Afghanistan, Ukraine, Venezuela, Cuba, Haiti, and Nicaragua.

With humanitarian parole, Sudanese Americans and members of the broader public would be able to sponsor those who are urgently looking for ways to escape the war in Sudan.
