Statement: Trump’s Travel Ban Hurts Us All

African Communities Together strongly condemns the Trump Administration’s cruel revival of the travel ban, which targets majority-Muslim, Black, and Asian countries. This policy, a revival of the devastating 2017 ban, blocks people from 12 countries from entering the United States and imposes restrictions on 7 more—cementing a legacy of xenophobia and racism against Black and Brown communities.

This ban is unjustified, racist, and dangerous. It will tear families apart, delay dreams, and isolate Americans from the global community.

For Black immigrants, the consequences are especially severe. The already limited pathways to migrate and move freely have been slashed even further. Since returning to office, Trump has gutted what few options we had.

This new travel ban is part of a broader agenda to dismantle the immigration system and sever the bonds that hold families, communities, and nations together—bonds of safety, opportunity, and love. Under this policy, a grandparent may never meet their grandchild, a sister may miss her brother’s wedding, and a student’s dream of studying in the U.S. may be lost.

By closing the door on our international families and friends, Trump isn’t protecting Americans—he’s depriving us of the social, cultural, and economic strength that immigration and global exchange bring.

Our leaders are meant to serve the people—not to amass power, appease billionaires, and divide us to advance hateful agendas. The greatest threat to our national security is not a student, a refugee, or a visiting family member. It’s the fear and hate toward immigrants and people of color that now resides in the White House.

We remain resolute. We will continue to resist unjust policies and fight back against attacks on our freedoms, our families, and our future.

Forward ever, backward never.
